MISSION-backed healthcare specialist offers dedicated underwriting expertise and flexible domestic capacity solutions for allied healthcare, medical facilities and MGA programs.
Alpharetta, GA, October 27, 2026 — Altea, the healthcare-focused insurance business established with MISSION UK in 2023, today announced its expansion into the United States through MISSION’s US platform, alongside the appointment of Justin Rodrick as Vice President. Rodrick will lead the development of Altea's US business alongside CEO Carly Matson.
Altea’s initial US offering will focus on small to mid-market miscellaneous medical facilities and allied healthcare providers, including multidisciplinary practices, aesthetics, integrative medicine and evolving models of outpatient healthcare delivery. Through Accelerant’s Risk Exchange platform, Altea will access insurance capacity, with underwriting operations expected to commence in Q4 2026.
Engagement with brokers and MGAs is already underway ahead of the formal launch.
A unique element of Altea’s strategy is to partner with established and emerging Managing General Agents (MGAs), Associations and Affinity Groups, delegating capacity to programs in their entirety or participating alongside existing capacity providers. Altea will also underwrite traditional open-market business through retail and wholesale brokers, offering a flexible approach to accessing dedicated healthcare insurance capacity.
Altea combines tailored coverage with proactive risk management and claims expertise. Founded in 2023 and having expanded into Europe in 2024, its entry into the US represents the next stage of Altea’s international development.
“We’ve built Altea around a simple principle – healthcare risks require specialist underwriting, supported by meaningful risk management and claims expertise,” said Carly Matson, CEO of Altea.
“Our expansion into the US represents an important next step for Altea, and we see significant opportunities to partner with brokers and MGAs who value an underwriting partner that understands their business, takes a commercial approach and can move at pace."
“Justin brings an excellent understanding of the US healthcare insurance landscape, the challenges facing brokers and MGAs and what it takes to develop successful programs. His experience and relationships will be instrumental as we establish and grow our US business.”
Rodrick brings more than a decade of medical professional liability experience across admitted and excess and surplus lines (E&S) markets. He previously held underwriting and program leadership roles at AIG, Liberty Mutual/Ironshore, and Coverys, where he helped build and grow the delegated authority programs unit.
“Healthcare is evolving rapidly, with new treatments, technologies and models of care creating opportunities that traditional insurance solutions don’t always accommodate,” said Rodrick. “We see a significant opportunity to work with brokers and MGAs that understand these unique markets but need a capacity partner with the expertise, flexibility and appetite to support their growth.”
“Our focus will be on building long-term partnerships, making informed underwriting decisions quickly and creating a more efficient route to market for the right opportunities.”
“Altea shows what a focused specialist can achieve,” said Jim Dwane, CEO of MISSION. “Backing exceptional underwriters with the capacity and resources to grow is exactly why MISSION exists. We're proud to support Carly and Justin as they bring Altea to the U.S.”
